  1. What is EZ-PDM?
    EZ-PDM is an affordable and effective software application that meets real-world product development challenges by providing a centralized location for all of the disparate project data and communications surrounding new product development and launches.

  2. Where did EZ-PDM come from? Is it new?
    Baton is a new solution to an ongoing issue, the need for a simple cost effective tool to manage all the disparate information related to new product initiatives and launches.

Who should use EZ-PDM

  1. Is there a minimum or maximum number of users?
    EZ-PDM can be set up for individual use or in user packs of 10, 25, 50, 100, and more. Start small and add users as you get more comfortable with the tool

  2. Is EZ-PDM better suited for small or large
    organizations?

    Yes! The answer is that the size of your organization doesn’t matter. EZ-PDM can help a small department or an entire division. Whether they share an office or are dispersed across time and space, users can access EZ-PDM to better manage their projects and collaborate on materials.

  3. I’m on a Mac - will EZ-PDM work for me?
    Yes it will. EZ-PDM was built with the creative person in mind, so it works on both PC and Mac platforms, and with Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla and FireFox

Getting Started

  1. We don’t have time to set up and learn software. How tough is this?
    Since EZ-PDM is Web-based, there’s no software to set up. And while Baton can provide training for administrators, project managers, and users, many of our customers have learned how to use EZ-PDM on their own just by accessing documentation from the comprehensive Help section.

  2. Is it easy to get started?
    We know that most marketing and creative folks are always busy, so we’ve made Baton -PDM very user friendly. First you’ve got to set up users, which is a one-time activity. Then you set up projects using a pre-set menu—inputting basic project information and attaching supporting documents. A basic project can be set up in just a few minutes.

Using EZ-PDM

  1. How does EZ-PDM display documents created in software that is not installed on my computer?
    EZ-PDM uses images of documents in formats that any user can open such as GIF, PDF. TIFF, JPEG, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  2. How does EZ-PDM help manage data?
    EZ-PDM solves for the on going communication surrounding new product initiatives. All your documents and images relating to a project will be in one place. No longer will you have to search for images, documents, emails and other communication surrounding you new product initiatives.

  3. How does EZ-PDM help manage communications and reduce e-mail?
    All the communications related to your new product initiatives are captured in one location, including comments, tasks assigned, tasks completed as well as all documents. Since you can review and aggregate feedback from all project participants in one place, the need for e-mail within a project team is greatly diminished.

  4. How do I know when to log in and review EZ-PDM project content?
    You select personal preferences that direct how often EZ-PDM notifies you via e-mail that there are new assignments or new content in your project site.

  5. How can I share only portions of the information stored in a EZ-PDM project with vendors or others outside the project group?
    You can activate a User for only one phase of a project, allowing them access to only what you want them to see.

Training & Support

  1. What kind of Training & Support does EZ-PDM provide?
    There is training available for all users at start up, as well as for new users on an ongoing basis. You can also contact a EZ-PDM team member via e-mail and telephone and finally there is an extensive Help Manual online.

Software Requirements

  1. My IT department won’t let me load software on my workstation. Am I out of luck?
    No, you’re in luck! The beauty of EZ-PDM is that it’s browser-based, so no software is required! And you can access it from anywhere you can get on the Net—the airport, your home or the local coffee shop.

Security

  1. We work on some pretty sensitive projects. How secure is my information?
    Without getting too technical, EZ-PDM uses 128-bit SSL, which stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It’s the same type of encryption used for online banking and e-commerce. Your information and correspondence is fully protected. Please review our Security Statement to learn more.

  2. Who has access to our passwords?
    Only your Company administrator and the individual users know the passwords. No one at EZ-PDM has access to your passwords or your data.

Cost to use EZ-PDM

  1. What does EZ-PDM cost?
    EZ-PDM is extremely reasonable compared with the expense of purchasing, installing, and maintaining software on your servers,. There are no up-front fees, or any software, hardware, or maintenance contracts to purchase. You are only responsible for a low monthly fee based on the number of users. Many clients have found that the efficiencies gained from using Baton--PDM easily offset the cost.

  2. Is there a charge per Project?
    No, you pay per user, no matter how many projects a user is active in.
